In South Asian context, situation of conflict
is characterized by diversified ethnicity, religion, casteism, language,
creed and gender. Many a times, it passes across the country boundaries
whenever national interests dominate over the human life and humanitarian
values. Armed conflict and war always restrain the development process and
force people to become unwilling part of that conflict. In such
circumstances, humanitarian and development agencies often realize their
helplessness in addressing the conflict situation and also, to continue with
their development & humanitarian assistance. |

The
studies and outcome of LCP Project were shared by practitioners of LCP and
after a series of discussions, the South Asian Partner Organizations of EED
realized that DNH approach could also be utilized effectively in South Asia
context.
The project on LCP in South Asia was initiated in January 2005 as
collaborative efforts of Nine South Asian Organizations and EED, Germany.
Mainstreaming of a new approach in an organization is not a cake-walk; it
requires efforts at all levels involving organizational decision makers to
staff at the grassroots. In this mainstreaming process, participating
organizations have realized that LCP tools and Do No Harm approach is
relevant to their own context.
